Thank you for taking the time to read this article. I pray that God will help you and teach you what He is teaching me. This doesn’t mean I have completely conquered these things, but I simply want others to see the light as I have.
I recently got to spend a little time with Sis. Joana Martin at the Ministers Conference. She opened my eyes to some thing’s that I had never heard anyone else talk about concerning the single life or being in a relationship, so I wanted to share them with others. I had begin to wonder if God was ever going to send me my soul mate, but now I realize that God is not going to send you him/her until you have a established relationship with Him and you are content with being single. I’m by far not an expert on either of these subjects, but God is teaching me everyday.
Building a true, rock solid relationship with Him is definitely not easy. It takes a lot of work and consistency. So many times I have heard preachers say that you’ve got to have a set time to pray and read God’s word. I have found this to be true. Now do I have days where it just doesn’t work? Absolutely! I’m not proud of it, I want to do better in that area. When I get up bright and early in the mornings and do my devotions it does wonders. It makes your day so much more joyful and peaceful. There is such a sweetness about it. It puts a fire inside you and a hunger to do more for the Lord! Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
If you’re not content with being single then you’ll never be content when you are married. No one has ever told me these things. It’s like this if you are never content when you’re single then when you’re married you are always going to want something new; you’re always going to want a baby or a new car etc. If you don’t learn to be content now, then you’ll never learn. You may be wondering why hasn’t God sent me the man/woman of my dreams, are you truly single and content? Are you desperate for a person to love? If you are then maybe you need to stop and ask the Lord to teach you just to be content like I am.
Exodus 2:21 And Moses was content to dwell with the man: and he gave Moses Zipporah his daughter. I never noticed this verse till now. If we are not content God won’t fulfill the desires of our hearts. Psalms 37:4 Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
Maybe you sing or maybe you’re a young preacher and you want the anointing on your life as I do. Sis. Joana spoke about Noah and how he walked with God (Genesis 6:9). We seem to overlook that little part in the latter part of that verse and all we think about is how he built the ark and God used him in such a great way, but don’t forget that Noah walked with God before he was used of God. We’ve got to walk with God daily. You never know when God is going to need you. We have to be instant in season and out of season. We think that goes just for preachers, but it applies to each of our lives.
I pray that God will use this article. May God richly bless you as you endeavor to follow Him.
